When something isn’t working, we tend to have a few different ways we react.
We give up on things
We do nothing
We change things
Think back on your own life and experiences.
Which of these do you tend to move towards when something isn’t working?
I can think back to experiences for each of these in my own life.
However, as I’ve gotten older and have gone through more in life, I’ve seen that the only way forward is really to change things.
Giving up? You’re selling yourself and the opportunity short, and will never know what could’ve been. (Not to mention this can easily create destructive patterns in your life.)
Doing nothing? Maybe even worse than giving up, because you’re neglecting to take action that needs to be done, and you have likely become stagnant in—or delusional to—the dysfunction around you.
Changing things though? Well, I can’t say it’s easy or comfortable by any means…but what I can say is that it’s always well worth it in the end.
Does it step on some toes? Cause confusion to others? Lose some friends and relationships? Leave you feeling lonely? Rethinking every little thing?
Probably.
But if you’re not taking hold of your own life, then others will and that’s no way to be living your life.
When it comes to your own business?
You need to be ready to make changes as soon as you see and realize something isn’t working.
I’ve had to do this countless times…and am even currently doing so as I continue to move FP over to Beehiiv.
Here’s a real-time update on how I’ve implemented this in the past week, with Unearth | The Business You’re Made For.
Closing things out with a personal example
In 2023 the $17K Business Program I was in wasn’t working.
I reached out to the leadership and was able to take two different breaks from the year long program, accounting up to 6 months.
When I was supposed to return, I realized I couldn’t use their program anymore—I had terminated my product business.
They weren’t able to refund me for the unused time as I requested, but instead my mentor in the program put together a plan where he would personally mentor me for the remaining 6 months.
Something that was WAY more helpful than simply quitting, or not making any changes. (Not to mention he charges $890/hour currently for his mentoring…)
→ A friend I had in the program took the “quitting without reaching out” route, and he was out thousands of dollars…and still doesn’t have his own business.
Choose wisely when you come to these times in life, and remember stories such as this!
Sometimes…most times…you just need to find the right person to reach out to.
And if that person is yourself? Promptly kick yourself to make the needed changes.

PS. If you noticed, I linked Beehiiv above. It’s because I finally have my own referral link!
Your first month is free, and if you end up paying you get 20% off your first three months.
I’d encourage you to try it out if it makes sense with what you’ve got running!
