Imagine you spend all this time setting up your website, getting your products in place, posting on social media non-stop, running around like crazy to get to your launch day.
You’ve realized in this time that having an email sign up list is important, and so you’ve thrown a form up.
That’s it.
You don’t think much about it, and you do minimal talking about why your audience should sign up for your list.
You’re now at your launch day, and you’ve made your social posts.
Not much has happened.
Sales aren’t coming in.
“Oh yes! My email list,” you think.
You send out an email to your list announcing your launch, hoping that it will bring in some sales.
However, this doesn’t bring in any.
Here’s what’s happened:
You don’t have much of an email list at all, since you haven’t put in the work to build it up.
The few on your list are likely friends and family, and not your customer.
Most people on your list won’t actually get your email. It will get sent directly to spam.
Those who do receive your email won’t engage with it, because you haven’t taken the time to engage with them. It doesn’t get opened, but gets swiped to trash.
The sad realization sets in that your email list should’ve been what you were building up during your launch countdown.
Followers on social media are nothing but a false sense of success and security.
Ultimately they can’t be counted on.
Don’t despair though!
Whether you’re an aspiring or current owner, it’s never too late to prioritize and implement an email list in your business.
You can get one created for your business and start seeing improvements in no time.
Here’s what you can do to prevent the above:
Prioritize getting your followers, audience, and future customers to join your email list.
→ All of your socials should point them towards signing up.
→ You want them inside and engaged in your business, not passively scrolling along.
You’re making the list for who you’re serving in your business which means it’s likely not for your friends and family.
→ You want to focus on building a quality list, made up of your future customers.
→ You’re creating content and bringing value to them in your emails.
As soon as people sign up, you should be telling them to check their inbox right away for your email. Instruct them to whitelist your email so that they don’t end up in spam.
→ Create a Welcome Series Automation in your emailing platform so that you don’t have any additional work to do.
At a minimum, you should be emailing your list once a week. You need to keep a warm list and be engaging with your list often.
→ When you’re ready to launch a new product/service, they will be ready to engage and purchase.
→ What to write? Content related to your customer base and community that provides value to their lives. Make sure to add CTA’s to each as well.
Alright. So where do you go from here?
Glad you asked!
Here’s my call to action (CTA) for you:
Watch this walkthrough I share of my welcome series automation in Beehiiv.
If you don’t have a series set up yet, then this will be helpful to see the process behind it all.
Following this, you should go and get a Welcome Series created ASAP in your emailing platform!
I love setting up automations like this, so if you have any questions—let me know.
And by all means, you can start with a much simpler welcome series, which we cover in Ground Zero.
One last thing you can do is take the Business Status Survey if you haven’t already.
You’ll get sent our newest resource that talks all about emailing, the importance of it, as well as some tips and tricks within emailing your list.
