I should've known

it's never as easy as it seems.

Years into having a business and you’d think some things would be engrained in you.

Like how something that seems like it should be easy to accomplish, will likely not be.

Last week I had planned to do a soft release of the ConnectCall app I’ve been working on.

I’ve been using Adalo (affiliate link added in now 🙌) which has made the app building process smooth, easy, and fun.

In this I assumed, something a business owner should never do, that pushing through the app to the iOS App Store would be the same.

A mistake on my part.

I somehow forgot the 5 years at my previous startup job.

We had two different apps.

During that time I lived and breathed every day that nothing…nothing…is easy or smooth about having an app on the iOS App Store.

How could I forget this!?

All to say, my schedule and timeline has gotten pushed out a bit with the app.

But! The good thing about being years into business, is that this is a common occurrence.

It’s nothing new, and can actually be helpful as it gives more time to think clearly and double check that everything is in order.

Here’s what I did accomplish this past weekend though:

  1. ConnectCall is now currently in TestFlight for beta testing.

  2. Those who have signed up for our waitlist will get to experience and try out the app soon.

  3. Based on feedback and user experience, we’ll then decide whether or not to publish it officially to the iOS App Store.

So essentially, I have the roadmap better planed out with how things will work for this app, and likely any other apps I may create in the future.

Something extremely helpful and valuable to learn.

The most exciting part about all this though?

I got accepted into the Apple Developer Program, paid their required membership, have access to their developer tools, as well as have ConnectCall in TestFlight.

This means, I also have the app itself on my phone!

So cool to see something I’ve been working on to be on my phone along with all my other apps.

In this, I've found some things to adjust and fix before sending it out to the first users.

I’ll get those items edited this week, push through a new version of the app in TestFlight, and then send out the invites and instructions to those who are on the waitlist.

So if you’re still on the fence about whether to join the waitlist, let me tell you—you should!

This may be the only time you’ll have the chance to test out the app.

But. What are some takeaways for you in all this?

  • It’s wise to have and plan for extra time when you’re working on launching something new.

  • Setbacks can come at any moment in your production timeline, and if they do come, you can still use it to your advantage and remain productive.

  • It’s important to have a set system in place to test your idea on a set of users.

  • Remain excited, but not too attached, to what you’re working on.

All of this will be helpful as you work on new projects, services, products, and ideas.

Which, if you need any help in getting something started, please let me know!

I’m always here and happy to help you in any way I can.

Just an email away!

Michael

PS. Later this week I’ll share what I learned this past November after doing 100 push-ups a day, totaling 3,000 push-ups for the month.

Man, what an experience and I’ve learned tons through doing this. Can’t wait to share with you!
