Business Basics: Part 4 of 4

We’ve made it to the end of our Business Basics series, and I’m ending with two of my favorite topics.

They’re ones I’ve learned in this past year and will make a huge difference in your own business journey.

  • You are not your customer

  • Charge more

They both seem pretty obvious but for many small business owners I know this is not the case.

However, when you implement these basics you’ll find so much more freedom in your position as the owner and the one in charge of your business.

You’ll be able to scale, build, and grow your business.

And most importantly…stay in business.

A great takeaway I got when learning this is that:

I want to price my products and services based on the customers I’m looking to attract and retain.

I don’t want to attract and collect customers that are cheap and unwilling to spend money.

Exactly why I AM NOT MY CUSTOMER.

I am cheap.

Instead, I want to attract and build my business around customers who are willing to pay for the value I’m bringing them.

That will be retained and excited for having a say at the future offerings, and will actually be the first to buy them.

It may be a huge mind shift that you have to make…trust me, it was for me.

But, it’s so exciting once you know this and can start implementing it in your business.

And remember, it’s always cheaper to retain customers than it is to go out and constantly get new customers.

Just make sure you’re retaining the customers you actually want to be serving, and that your business needs in order to stay in business.
